This Is Why I'm Going to Zara for All My Autumn Outfit Ideas

A few weeks ago, I wrote about how Net-a-Porter is one of my secret sources of outfit inspiration. It sounds so obvious, and, well, that's because it is, but I'd bet that most people wouldn't have considered it for this purpose. However, it isn't only the designer destinations that are acing it—the other platform that never fails to spark my imagination is Zara.

In my opinion, Zara always tops the high-street hierarchy when it comes to winter fashion, and this is reflected in the way it styles its designs. Obviously, not every single model shot is a work of art, but I find that more often than not, when an item catches my eye, I also fall in love with the outfit. They tread the line between wearable and statement so well.

Don't believe me? I did a bit of searching in Zara's new-in section to find five outfits that look just as good as any runway ensemble (if anything, they're better, as they're far more suited to day-to-day life). From the ideal way to wear a wool midi skirt to the easy layering trick that will transition your party dress into the daytime, scroll down to see and shop my favourite Zara autumn outfits right now.

1. Straight-Leg Jeans + Cardigan + Strappy Sandals

Style Notes: Cosy, stylish and so easy to put together, this is one we want to try this weekend. A cardigan suddenly feels very modern when layered over a white shirt and paired with straight-leg jeans. Dress down with loafers or dress up with strappy sandals.

2. Midi Skirt + Ruffle Blouse + Chunky Boots

Style Notes: There's something very Dior about this midi-skirt–and–ruffled-shirt getup. The chunky boots and hat offer the pairing a more Western spin and help to keep the skirt's traditional proportions looking modern. Finish with an oversized camel coat and slouchy tote.

3. Satin Pinafore Dress + Shirt + Knee-High Boots

Style Notes: If you ever wondered how to make your silky slip dress work for the daytime, take your cues from this chic look. The white shirt adds a tailored edge, and the knee-high boots transports things into winter territory.

4. Leopard-Print Jumper + White Jeans + Square-Toe Boots

Style Notes: If you've got an old leopard-print jumper in your cupboard, try updating it for the new season with a pair of straight-leg white jeans and square-toe boots. We also like the cute addition of the green beaded bag.
