In a 2018 Clueless Remake, This Trend Is 100% What Cher Horowitz Would Wear

Oh, the power of Cher Horowitz's wardrobe. My '90s childhood consisted of watching her endless outfit changes on repeat—from plaid with knee-high socks to red minidresses and feather boas. I don't know about you, but I've always longed for the return of a Clueless-inspired wardrobe (and for it actually be on trend), which is why I'm thrilled yellow checks are here in a big way for autumn winter 2018.

Bold, bright and fun, this one certainly isn't for the faint-hearted, as you'll be making quite the statement in this jolly print. You don't need to look like you're dressed for Halloween with a head-to-toe Crayola plaid skirt suit (although if you want to, DVF has the perfect one). This season, it's all about pairing those statement pieces with the more classic items in your wardrobe.

This trend remains super tailored and elevated, with exaggerated suiting from Sara Battaglia, double-breasted coats and knee-high boots from Balenciaga and long-line blazers from Blaze Milano. If colour is your thing, this is your time to go hard or go home and clash these yellow-check pieces with vibrant colours. Marques'Almeida's plaid boots are just asking to be teamed with lilac and red.

Your check doesn't have to be quite so in-your-face either. Attico, AlexaChung and Topshop have touched on this trend in subtler ways with a mix of yellow and navy or white, something I know I'll be signing up for this winter.
