The Only 5 Tops You Need to Buy This Spring

Once the weather warms up, it seems like there's always a ton of chatter about dresses and denim, while good old-fashioned blouses are all but ignored. But a great top is just as crucial to a well-rounded wardrobe as any other staple, so we're giving the piece its due.

We picked the brain of resident stylist Marissa Webb, and she shared her picks for the spring and summer tops every woman should add to her closet.

Especially as summer approaches, I find long-sleeve, gauzy button-up, cotton shirts go with just about everything. Finding a great wash is the key, and be sure to pick up a range of colours that look great on sun-kissed skin.

I don't think we can ever have too much linen—T-shirts (short and long sleeved) and tanks especially. I love to layer them, and they're great in a range of stripe layouts from tiny feeder stripes to larger rugby.

It's the perfect season for eyelet. I love a tunic for easy versatility (there are so many ways to wear it!), but really any shape in eyelet works.

Personally, I steal my fiancé's button-down shirts for the beach in place of a traditional cover-up.

Sleeveless blouses are great for spring and summer. Layer them with a blazer for air-conditioned offices or wear them on their own when it's warm out.
