#1: Loafers

Style Notes: As you no doubt know already, Gucci loafers have had a huge resurgence, but don't let the trend fool you—these are the kind of shoes that always look chic as they are so inherently classic. And you can pick from all manner of iterations, from the simple and refined horsebit loafer through to something more experimental for 2016. "A pair of Gucci loafers are right for now and forever," Coulter tells us.

#2: Trench Coat

Style Notes: "A great raincoat from Burberry will be that item you can pull out, year after year," says Cher. And we agree entirely. Wear yours now with bare legs and flats, then get ready to belt up come autumn-time over tailored suits.

#3: Diamond Rings

Style Notes: Of all the special pieces available, Coulter recommends picking out a statement diamond ring—it is the ultimate feel-good piece, one that you'll never tire of putting on. Her choice? "A diamond panther ring from Anita Ko."

#4: Classic Evening Bag

Style Notes: Due to the versatility of the evening bag, Coulter would advise placing your bets on Saint Laurent's long-chained logo purse. See how well it works for day? Well then, just imagine it twinkling with an LBD by night. It's a surprisingly wise investment.

#5: A Victoriana Blouse

Style Notes: "A vintage white, crocheted Victorian-feeling top or dress never dates, you just have to update what it is worn with," explains Cher. "When choosing one, think of The Virgin Suicides or a David Hamilton photo." Right now we'd recommend pairing your blouse with clean, blue denim.
