I'm a Stylist—These Are the 5 Trousers I'd Recommend Wearing With Loafers

There’s no doubt about it. As soon as the leaves begin to brown, we're read to hit autumn mode. Seeing autumn/winter 2023 trends flooding the new-in sections is enough to get us excited, and we can’t help but look ahead to the crisp days to come.

Continuing the relaxed ethos of the warmer months, the transitional period between summer and autumn is all about ease. Especially when it comes to styling. Trench coats are layered on top of simple outfit formulas, light linens swapped for more sturdy leather iterations, whilst classic shirting and light layers continue to prove their worth as the weather fluctuates from day to day. Whilst boots are a prerequisite of the new season, we're not quite ready to commit to the sturdy silhouette. Instead, we're looking to another versatile shoe that remains a timeless finishing touch to any wardrobe: loafers.

2023 is the year that we celebrate flats, with Mary Janes and ballet flats a constant feature in our favourite fashion people's wardrobes. Loafers too have prevailed this year, as a pairing for mini dresses in summertime, and now, for the cooler months, with leg-covering trousers. Come winter, these same outfits will be a blueprint to follow, perhaps with the addition of a thicker coat and maybe socks, for good measure.

So, without further ado, these are five loafer-and-trouser combinations you can wear now.

1. Leather Trousers + Trench Coat + Loafers

Style Notes: Scandi girl Pernille Tesibæk knows leather trousers and loafers have no bounds. Add a t-shirt and a trench for now or wear this duo with a tank and blazer. Note how Pernille has opted for a lighter loafer as opposed to the traditional black in order to bring her look into the new season.
