Palm Springs is to Los Angeles as the Hamptons are to New York City. In other words, it’s the sun-soaked getaway of choice, a mere few hours from the city. Lately the former has been having a major fashion moment—Louis Vuitton showed its new Resort collection at Bob Hope’s former Palm Springs Home, fashion photographer darling Grey Malin staged his latest shoot at the Parker Palm Springs, and Trina Turk recently opened a mini boutique in the same hotel (quite the fashionable spot) and celebrated the 20th anniversary of her line. We caught up with the always colourful Turk at her 20th-anniversary bash to get the scoop on her favourite Palm Springs haunts.

In Palm Springs, there are a lot of vintage-modern furniture stores and even thrift shops that I love. One of my favourites is Bon Vivant, which has cool hippie and modernist jewellery, a huge selection of cuff links, plus ceramic, glass, and other decorative accessories for your home, curated by Patrick Barry's sharp eye.
I love the pool at the John Lautner–designed Elrod House. A huge curved glass door retracts over the pool to open the living room to the patio and a drop-dead-gorgeous view of the valley. Or you can just swim under it to go in and out!
The Fontenell is a seven-room property you can rent for events. It was formerly the private compound of the Max Factor family and has recently been restored, replete with vintage furnishing and amazingly intact period kitchens in aqua, yellow, or pink.
Parker Palm Springs is one of my favourite hotels in the world. To commemorate my 20th anniversary this year, I partnered with them to open a Trina Turk boutique right on the property. Norma's at the Parker is my go-to spot for lunch. They have a terrific rock lobster and mango salad.
Palm Springs Museum
I love Albert Frey's second house in Palm Springs, a jewel box of a bachelor pad nestled up among the rocks. Mr. Frey designed many famous buildings in PS, including the dramatic winged-roof gas station, now Visitor's Center, at the north end of town, Palm Springs City Hill, and the building where our Palm Spring boutiques are located.
My husband, Jonathan, and I love this bar in the Saguaro for delicious, fresh Mexican food and margaritas.
Palm Springs Modern Heritage Fund
I'm very inspired by the annual Palm Springs Modern Heritage Fund home tours, which usually take place in November. We've been going on the tours for 10-plus years!
