2020 Hasn't Even Begun, But These New Items Are Already Trending

For those who aren't familiar with Moda Operandi, let us acquaint you with it. By all accounts, it's a designer shopping mecca—a place that brings together creations by mainstream and niche fashion houses for your shopping pleasure. However, its USP is its trunk shows, which are essentially previews of the following season's products that you can preorder, ensuring you don't miss out when they actually become available. This way of shopping also makes it more feasible for designers to get their designs to market, confident in the knowledge that there is indeed a demand for them. Clever, huh?

And what we've come to find over recent seasons is that Moda's trunk shows give us an accurate depiction of what the next big trends or must-have buys will be. Ahead of the official launch of all the S/S 20 collections next year, which we saw on the Fashion Month runways back in September, Moda has 10,000 individual pieces for preorder. Below, whittled down from thousands, you'll find the 10 most in-demand items for spring and summer 2020, according to the data.

So which pieces have made the cut? The list will generally appeal to minimalists and advocates of buying classic pieces, but among the clean silhouettes and pared-back colour palette is a dress so iconic it's little wonder fashion aficionados have made it their mission to own it. So without further ado, feast your eyes on the top-trending buys of 2020 before the year has even begun.
