These 4 Tights Trends Are Incredibly Sarah Jessica Parker

There are two types of people: those who live for tights season and those who brave bare legs until temperatures drop below freezing. Me? Well, I'm a member of the former. In fact, there's nothing I love more than pulling on a fresh-out-the-packet pair of tights for the first time. Velvety and decadent, they're the ultimate marker for the new season as far as I'm concerned.

However, I must admit that I've never strayed far from black opaques. I wasn't blessed with supermodel pins, and although I'd never hide them away (there are too many fabulous skirts and flattering dresses to be had to give into insecurities), they just aren't a part of my body I wanted to draw attention to. That is, until these women convinced me otherwise.

Having only recently got their tights out of hibernation, it's already clear that hosiery is taking an "extra" turn this autumn/winter. From the textures to try to the hue approved by the style set's best dressed, there's more than a whiff of Carrie Bradshaw (and real-life Sarah Jessica Parker) about them. Picking up where fishnets left off last year are polka dots. Whether you opt for sheer black or beige (it's up to you), just ensure your dots are on the small side to keep things chic.

We spotted several street stylers matching their tights to their outfits over the course of fashion month, and unexpectedly, we love the outcome. Not only will it instantly pull together your look, but wearing one tone also helps you look leaner and taller.

That's right—it's not just dresses that are set to be given the lace treatment this season. Wear them with tailoring or as part of a neutral colour palette for a polished take on the trend.

Yes, red is the colour of choice when it comes to hosiery in 2018. Start by showing off a little sliver between boots and dresses, and before you know it, you'll be striding with pride. For a more subtle approach, try a dark red hue.
