My Summer Wardrobe Consists of Just 9 Pieces

Now that we're in August we're in full-on summer mode. But don't fret if you think you've missed out on the best summer clothes, especially if you've seen all the sales going on, as there are plenty of incredible warm weather-friendly pieces to pick up. In fact, if you've not had the changes to hone your warm-weather capsule, then now is the time to discover the pieces that really matter for your wardrobe when the temperature starts to heat up. Whether that's for your holiday packing list, a great outfit for the weekend or even the office, there are some key items that everyone needs in their summer closet.

To help you identify exactly what you need to navigate the next couple of months in serious style, I've whittled down nine key buys that come with influencer approval as standard.

From Brittany Bathgate's frock to Jessie Bush's take on tailored shorts, as well as the most fun basket bags we've seen in a while, keep scrolling to shop the best clothes summer 2019 has to offer.

1. Slouchy Jumpsuits

Style Notes: Faithfull the Brand's linen jumpsuit was a must-have amongst the style set last summer, and for 2019 its floral all-in-one is set to be just as iconic. Look for relaxed silhouettes and '60s-esque prints to nail the Ibiza-ready vibe.

2. Shirred Swimsuits

Style Notes: One of the biggest swimwear trends of 2019 is shirred fabric, a stretchy material that has tight pleats. The trend was kick-started by Hunza G, and we recommend buying into the swimsuit iterations, as they'll double up as a chic top to wear with floaty midi skirts.

3. Sunseeker Dresses

Style Notes: Stripes are a sartorial mainstay, but in summer they're given a pastel overhaul to create the sunseeker stripe. Reminiscent of deckchairs, wear yours with white accessories for a fresh finish.

4. Pastel Cotton Shorts

Style Notes: Shorts are a mainstay in any summer wardrobe, but never have we seen a pair prettier than Jessie Bush's pink cotton numbers. Choose any pastel hue and wear them with an oversized white shirt.

5. Souped-Up Basket Bags

Style Notes: Basket bags have had a bit of an upgrade this season with jewels and shells. Invest in one of these key styles or, if you're feeling crafty, try upgrading a plain style from last year by sticking on some gems of your own.

6. Milkmaid Tops

Style Notes: Milkmaid tops are fast becoming the It top of the summer, and it's not hard to see why. The square or sweetheart neckline looks amazing on bigger busts, while the trademark puff sleeves add a feminine feel to any look. Wear with everything from denim cut-offs to your bikini bottoms on the beach.

7. Classic Espadrilles

Style Notes: While sandals are essential, be sure not to overlook espadrilles. The closed toes make them ideal for cooler days spent on home soil, while the cotton and linen textures work just as well for exotic getaways.

8. Maxi Skirt & Crop Top Co-Ord

Style Notes: You heard it here first—maxi skirts are making a comeback. Banish all hippy connotations by investing in a style with a matching crop top.

9. Simple Chain Anklets

Style Notes: Anklets were high on the sartorial agenda last year, but now the chunky shell styles of 2018 are being replaced by simple chain iterations.
