Jeanne Damas

It's easier said than done to look, well, undone. But Paris-based blogger Jeanne Damas knows exactly how to achieve that style in outfits that are chic and polished without trying too hard. Even if you don't understand the language of love--Damas' blog is written entirely in her native French--you'll find that her imagery alone provides an endless stream of inspiration. She's also a model by day, so you'll not only find outfit photos, but also peeks at recent ad campaigns she's appeared in and other snapshots of her fashionably full life! While Damas isn't one to follow fleeting trends, her look is indisputably modern. Her sensibilities lean toward the cool and casual; after all, a number of her ensembles incorporate some kind of denim piece. But she adds a little flair to each outfit, whether through a brightly coloured scarf, a pair of glamorous yellow heels, or a standout shaggy coat. Topped off with her signature beauty look--slightly messy, bed-head hair and fresh-faced makeup--Damas pulls off a totally original style.

Q&A with Jeanne Damas
Please describe your personal style in two sentences or less.
I would say my style is sensual effortless.

How does the city you live in inspire your day-to-day style?
As I'm living in Paris, the city of fashion, in every district you come across women styled with a natural elegance that only belongs to French ladies. It's an amazing source of fashion inspiration, better than any magazine.

List some of your favourite current trends and why you appreciate them/how you are wearing them.
Isabel Marant is my day-to-day style because she understood since she started how women like to be in their clothes everyday. It's cool without doing too much. Acne is my favourite brand for jeans and jackets. Always the right cut. Surface to Air for the cool winter shoes.

Who are some of your style icons and why?
Jane Birkin and her daughters, Charlotte and Lou. They have an amazing sense of fashion; though they are family, each one has her own style. My style is a mix of theirs: rock for Lou, simple for Charlotte, and sexy '60s for Jane.

Name one go-to piece in your closet and why.
I will never grow tired of my pair of Isabel Marant boots that I have in several colours and that I can wear no matter the season.

What are some of your favourite places to shop?
Merci, a concept store near my home, always has a very good selection. For a shopping day with friends, I would choose Le Marais district because all my favourite brands have a shop there (Acne, Vanessa Bruno, Surface to Air, A.P.C., Isabel Marant).

What are some of your fashion sites/blogs?
