I'm a Stylist—I've Been Recommending This Easy Dress to All My Clients Recently

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking recently, about what to wear that feels fresh during this ‘in-between season’ time of year; what should I be pulling out of my wardrobe in the morning, and recommending to you, and to my styling clients, when the air is still chilly but signs of spring are on the way? It can be a tricky one, as you ideally want something versatile that can be layered up as well as stripped back to straddle both seasons. After browsing the new-in sections recently, I think I might have landed upon the perfect solution: a striped knitted midi dress, and I’ve rounded up the best styles for you below.

Of course, we’re all aware of how easy and versatile a throw-on jumper dress can be. They’re comfortable and you can pair them with knee high boots and heels for a really polished look or trainers on more relaxed days. This also makes them the perfect transitional item, and something that can be layered with coats now, then shorter jackets (or no jacket) come later spring. And while most of us dress-lovers will probably already own a neutral knitted dress, it’s the addition of stripes for SS23 that feels particularly fresh to me.

Stripes are, in my mind, a spring staple and there’s nothing more useful in a capsule wardrobe than a breton top. So it makes sense that this chic pattern should be applied to another one of our wardrobe basics to elevate it in the same way. Both luxury designers and the high street seem to have cottoned on this year, and there’s so many effortless striped knit midi dresses available right now. Keep scrolling to see the selection of styles I’ve been sending out to my styling clients this week...
