7 Spring Outfits to Update Your Wardrobe With Without Needing a Credit Card
I don't know about you, but I'm so bored of my entire wardrobe this year. Maybe it's because I'm still working from home and rely heavily on comfort-bringing pieces, or maybe it's because it's that in-between time where I'm already itching to do the winter-to-spring wardrobe switch. Whatever it is, I'm in the market for a few new pieces to make me feel excited about getting dressed. Just as well, then, the new-in sections are stocked high with fresh pieces to spread instant joy. I'm searching for those key items that will work seamlessly with my current favourites (hello, striped sweater) while delivering that new-clothes feel.
While I've been on my mega hunt to find the best bits, I've found that the high street is reigning supreme. As a stylist, I spend a lot of my time putting outfits together, so I thought I would create some easy spring outfit inspiration with the pieces I've found. And the best part? Each outfit comes in at under £250 each. So whether it's the £35 gingham Marks and Spencer dad sandals paired with a miniskirt, or the pink & Other Stories slip skirt that's bringing all the Valentino vibes, these are all the best high-street buys right now, plus how to style them. You're welcome.

Who What Wear UKLeather shorts have been key for winter, so for spring, ditch the tights and layer with a classic trench. Sticking to separates in similar tones is the key to looking polished with minimal effort.
Mixed metal-and-pearl jewellery is everywhere right now.
Outfit 2 = £162

Who What Wear UKThere's no doubt about it. A nod to all things '90s is leading the way once again this season. Give in with one-shoulder tops, claw clips, chunky loafers and shoulder bags. Trust me—you won't regret it.
These will also work with a cropped cardi.
Mango never fails when it comes to statement-making handbags.
I have this, and I can't stop wearing it clipped to my bag, ready for when I want to pull my hair back.
Outfit 3 = £229

WHO WHAT WEAR UKLet's just say I've been slightly (read: completely) swayed by the Valentino A/W 22 show. Zendaya in that hot-pink look has made me want to try out the colour ahead of it naturally becoming a key shade later in the year. Thankfully, Arket and & Other Stories are one step ahead with this slip-skirt-and-cardigan dream duo.
I'm all for having a go at making my own bag if it looks this good.
Outfit 4 = £234

Who What Wear UKStriped trousers are everywhere–from Kitri and Ganni to Totême and Khaite–and I want in. I've already seen this particular Kitri pair on Jessie Bush with a shearling jacket, but when warmer weather finally arrives, I'll be wearing it with a cut-out racer vest and clashing striped oversized shirt.
Outfit 5 = £209

Who What Wear UKAny shade of green goes this season, and I'm all for embracing the zesty shades. I never thought I would want to wear a bandeau "boob tube" top again, but here we are. Another unexpected revival is extra-baggy blue jeans. This time, though, instead of letting them drag on the floor, team with chunky platform Mary Janes.
Strapless tops and dresses are big news for spring/summer.
I'm loving all the heeled platforms around at the moment.
Outfit 6 = £246

Who What Wear UKWaistcoats have been worn as suits, over T-shirts and on their own as a top so far this year, and I'm also a big fan of wearing one open over a floaty dress. Keep the look in line with 2022 by adding chunky gold hoops and Western boots.
Outfit 7 = £242

Who What Wear UKWhether it's a leather shirt, shacket, jacket or trench, just make sure you have one at the ready. When it comes to skirts, Miu Miu's mini on the spring/summer 2022 runway proved micro is back. Approve or not, it's the style du jour.
The shorter the better, according to the runways.
Yep, "ugly" dad sandals are back for yet another season.
Whistles's jewellery section is well worth shopping.
