Fact: These Are the 6 Biggest Shoe Trends You Need to Know for Spring

While the weather can’t seem to make its mind up, we’re making the unanimous decision that it’s time for spring shoes. Pedi-ready or not, we’re set to break free from the confinements of boots in favour of fresh spring/summer 2022 trends, and there’s no shortage of styles to try out. It can become a bit of a minefield deciphering which pairs are actually worth trying out, though, so we’ve shortlisted six key styles we know will be huge news from here on out. Spotted on the runways of some of our favourite designers and already being worn by some of our favourite fashion people, they can only be a recipe for success.

So whether it’s caged fisherman sandals, as seen at Max Mara, Mary Janes backed by Chanel and Christian Dior or quirky clogs loved by Rejina Pyo and Ganni, this is your style bible of the shoes that’ll go with all your spring outfits, no matter the weather forecast.

1. Mary Janes

French fashion houses Chanel and Christian Dior both put Mary Janes on the runway for spring/summer 2022. As they can give that certain je ne sais quoi to any look this season, designers and influencers have decided Mary Janes work wonders with a mini.

2. Fisherman Sandals

A cross between gladiator and jelly sandals, fisherman sandals have made a return following their success in 2021. For 2022, Max Mara put them back on our radar in shiny silver iterations. Now, fashion editors and influencers are styling them as in-between-weather shoes thanks to the closed toe.

3. Clogs

Delivering a retro '70s vibe to any look, clogs are the unlikely contender making their way to the top of our wish lists. The likes of Rejina Pyo and Ganni made them the stars of their shows, and now, everyone is wearing flat or mid-heeled versions with everything from jeans to floaty dresses.

4. Mega Platforms

Saint Laurent, ACNE Studios and Versace all backed power platforms. The super-stacked heels have made quite the name for themselves thanks to Versace's Medusa style worn by Beyoncé, Tracee Ellis Ross and every fashion influencer on Instagram. So many brands have now followed suit, and we've picked the best of the best—including the aforementioned Versace pair.

5. Sporty Sandals

Sporty sandals are a favourite each and every year. From Prada's colourful styles everyone loved a few years back to Chanel's chunky pair that has just been released in fresh new colourways, this style is sticking around for the long haul. We put it down to the 10/10 comfort factor.

6. Chunky Loafers

Penny loafers have been elevated to dreamy new heights this year, and we mean this quite literally. The chunky, thick-sole styles were everywhere on the runways, and designer and high-street brands have created styles you can wear with any outfit this season.
