This is Style in the South, a series in which our Southern-based editor, Allyson Payer, shares her insight into the trends and shopping habits that Southern girls follow (and don't follow). She'll also share her personal experience with relearning how to dress in the South after more than a decade away. Whether you live in the South, are visiting, or are just curious, she's here to offer you her Who What Wear perspective about all things Southern girl.

It's not uncommon for people to think that the South is devoid of seasons. To the contrary, especially in North Carolina where I live, the seasons are quite distinct. Fall, in particular, can be long and unpredictable weather-wise. Although it's still in the 90s now (and likely to stay that way for the next month), I'm working on building my wardrobe for the coming month's inevitable temperature changes. In case you want to join me, scroll on to shop everything I'm buying for fall this year, from outerwear to footwear.

Next up: 57 regret-free things to buy when you're bored.
