Goth Girls Are Back and This Is the Fashion Leader

Fashion loves a rebel, and they've certainly found one in SoKo. A French fashion rebel? Even better. A French fashion rebel who is the ex-girlfriend of Kristen Stewart and in a new movie alongside Lily-Rose Depp? Well, now we're seriously talking.

SoKo, an actress and singer, is currently being courted by some of the biggest brands in the business, namely Gucci. And, alongside her talents, her aesthetic really chimes with the forthcoming fashion mood. A/W 16's outlook is distinctly gothic and fiercely individual, two things SoKo appears to provide by the effortless bucketload. With her often-messy black-crow hair, smudges of red eye shadow and perma-glare, it's her beauty regimen that also has us interested—no wonder our friends over at Byrdie UK are also charting SoKo's rule-breaking look.

So during the recent round of shows at the very high profile Haute Couture Fashion Week, SoKo became a prominent fixture. She's partied alongside the other It girls of the moment—from Bella Hadid to Kate Moss—and has been notching up some pretty awesome looks along the way. Most of all, though, SoKo looks like she's having a riot doing it. Who else would hit the Cannes Film Festival (in blazing hot sunshine) wearing a Victoriana-style black lace dress with tartan pop-socks, mega-platforms and a grin from ear to ear?

Scroll through the gallery to see some of our favourite SoKo looks—and be sure to keep her on your radar for nailing autumn/winter's gothic trend.

Style Notes: Juxtaposing a floral Kenzo dress against red Gucci accessories, SoKo's remixed the floral frock idea.

Style Notes: Another day, another gorgeous Gucci choice. Add a punk choker and you'll get the right dash of attitude.

Style Notes: Very few other girls would wear a black lace dress in the sunshine, let alone a Giambattista Valli one with purposefully wet-look hair, tartan socks and giant platforms. We applaud SoKo's dedication.

Style Notes: The costume drama of this Gucci gown is perfectly offset by a corsage.

Style Notes: No matter how ethereal the Chloé dress, it's SoKo's style to wear chunky shoes—and to make the most of swathes of fabrics for photo ops.

Style Notes: For a Vogue Paris event, SoKo once again represented Gucci's mix-and-match aesthetic.

Style Notes: While Lily-Rose Depp went retro, SoKo took on the Cannes bull by it's theatrical horns—this monochrome floor-sweeper is another beauty from Giambattista Valli.

Style Notes: More black, more Gucci. SoKo's subversive way to do cute often involves sheer layers.

Style Notes: Not content with one statement, SoKo breezes through three. Her Gucci trouser suit looks brilliant and bold with a leopard shirt and red corsage.
