If you’ve seen photos of Sienna Miller swanning around Cannes in killer outfits lately, it’s because she’s sitting on the prestigious film festival jury with other big names like Jake Gyllenhaal and jury presidents Joel and Ethan Coen. WWD had a chance to sit down with her there to discuss her career and style evolution, and she shared some surprising reflections on her past as a boho fashion icon. Discussing her decision to work with stylist Kate Young for the festival circuit and other major events, she had this to say:
“I used to be like a Christmas tree, kind of with belts and jewellery everywhere, and I think you grow up and you become a little bit more sophisticated maybe, but I don’t feel like I’m suddenly wearing clothes that I’ve been put in. It’s a collaboration and it’s things that I’m drawn to.”

She encapsulated cool-girl style, and she still does, even if her current look is a bit more grown-up and sophisticated. That said, it’s not uncommon for us to cringe when looking back on the sartorial phases of our lives, so we can’t blame her there. The difference is that her past style was actually chic, and ours was, well, in a different category altogether…
