It's True—These 6 Shoe Colours Go With Absolutely Everything

Let's talk about shoes, shall we? More often than not, they're the hardest-working item in your wardrobe, commanding more repeat wears than anything else. We change our clothes daily and swap out our accessories, such as bags and jewellery on the regular, but shoes are expected to work with multiple outfits. As such, investing in versatile shoes can elevate any ensemble is crucial.

For the longest time, I, like many people, tended to gravitate towards neutral shoe colours (read: black), which went with the majority of my clothes. But recently, I've been feeling the urge to switch things up and inject some colour into my shoe collection, especially as we approach the warmer months. This got me thinking—are there shoe colours that can go with anything besides black? I decided to do some research and, in the process, discovered six shoe colours that go with everything (and I mean everything).

Whether you're a classicist or someone with an eye for playful pieces, these shoe colours will add more personality and versatility to your outfits than you ever thought possible. Without further ado, here are the six shoe colours that really do go with everything.

1. Brown

Style Notes: Brown tones might be trending this season, but when it comes to shoes, it's a classic colour option that works with every outfit your black shoes would have, too. In fact, I'd even argue it goes better with softer colours, as the brown shade itself is less harsh set against them.

2. Light Blue

Style Notes: Akin to blue denim, which we know pairs perfectly with just about every colour you can think of, the same logic applies to pale blue shoes. Trust me—you'll be amazed at just how much they go with.

3. Muted Yellow

Style Notes: Sandy yellow tones bridge the gap between white shoes and tan, making for a pretty choice that's surprisingly versatile too. Although Abi has styled hers with a rather neutral get-up, this shade also works with bolder hues, such as pink and blue, as well as shades of khaki, burgundy and navy.

4. White

Style Notes: On the subject of white shoes, I formerly thought they looked a little cheap. Now, though, with refined, cool silhouettes, white shoes are one of the chicest things you can wear on your feet.

5. Red

Style Notes: Bright red might be bold, but this particular shade is still widely regarded as being classic, something that will never go out of style. That's what makes it a sound bet when it comes to bags and shoes.

6. Silver

Style Notes: Again, it might be a key trend this summer, but silver is everlasting, especially in the world of shoes and accessories. Because of the light base colour and reflective surface, they tend to blend with other colours better than gold, bouncing off of them in a complementary way.
