These Are Officially the Most Popular Wedding Dresses in Australia

Not a day goes by where Alison Donnellan, content manager and digital producer from Wedded Wonderland does not receive a range of beautiful and unique real life wedding photos to feature. So from her daily sort through her inbox, she doesn't find it hard to narrow the most coveted styles of wedding dresses out there. "While each event is unique in its character and style, it's easy to spot an emerging bridal gown trend," Donnellan says.

Knowing every bride has a specific taste and undoubtedly different budgets and constraints, we asked Donnellan to narrow down the three most popular styles of wedding dresses that she's currently seeing for 2017. Even though you're probably familiar with the styles listed below, it's certainly still true in that, as designer Carolina Herrera once said, "a wedding dress is both intimate and personal for women—it must reflect the personality and style of the bride." So whether it's sexy sheer panelling, or if romantic and dramatic is more your style, you're bound to to find something to catch your eye.

Modern Victorian

"Once reserved for the early 1900s, these intricate lace gowns are making a modern comeback with contemporary silhouettes and plunging backs. Flared sleeves and mermaid-esque hems are also new-age additions, while a fitted bodice and a layer of tulle around the skirt are a gorgeous, and reoccurring, inclusion."

Ball Gown

"With a full, floor-length skirt and a fitted bodice, the ball gown is a popular classic for a good reason. Equal parts romantic, glamorous, and dramatic, this style of gown couldn't be further from the puffy styles of yesteryear. Often complete with a train or opulent embroidery, this style of dress is for the ultimate show-stopper."

Subtle Sexy

"A combination of the sheath and mermaid styles, the subtle sexy wedding dress is championed by the likes of Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé. Its form-fitting shape showcases and emphasises the wearer's curves, with thoughtfully placed lines, sheer panels, and a trailing skirt upping the ante."
