When the temperature suddenly drops in London, there's only one choice of footwear I'm interested in: boots. People in London will do their very best to prolong their time in ballet pumps and mules, but once winter is here, the truly sensible choice of shoe has to be the boot in all its forms. My love affair with a great pair of winter boots stems from the ability to dress them up or down for any occasion. (The only place you won't find me wearing knee-high boots in December is the gym, and that's only because this month is an exercise-free period.)

When it comes to elevated footwear, Russell & Bromley needs no introduction. Whilst you may find its stores on many high streets throughout the UK, its offering is hardly of a high-street status but rather has the quality, care and luxury detail of a designer brand. The heritage label continues to serve timeless seasonal classics year upon year, including its iconic loafers, but it also has a series of fashion-forward styles for all occasions. Party shoes and bags currently reign prominently, with an array of pink satin platforms, crystal-embellished kitten heels and rhinestone stilettos that all scream unapologetic glamour. But the shoes that go directly in my Instagram Saved folder are Russell & Bromley's boots.

Whether it's the brand's Western-inspired styles or its pull-on ankle boots, there's a pair for any activity and facet of your life. And London's most stylish agree. Influencers Jessie BushKaren Williams and Who What Wear columnist Monikh Dale are just some of the people who have been spotted stomping around the streets in their R&B shoes.

If you're looking for some inspiration for how to wear them, look no further! I've pulled the best boot looks from all three women below.

SALOON STYLE

Style Notes: If you dare to go bare-legged in these temperatures, then do it like Jessie Bush has: A miniskirt and some cosy knitwear are a classic combination. What I love about these Saloon boots, which also come in dark green, is that they tick two trends in one: The knee-high height is everywhere at the moment, and I can't get enough of the Western edge.

WALK TALL

Style Notes: Is there anything more classic and essential to a wardrobe's shoe selection than a Chelsea boot? Here, Dale wears the Hackney boot, which is elevated (quite literally) with an eight-centimeter heel—the perfect heel height to wear from day to night. For casual events, wear these shoes with jeans and your favourite jacket, and simply add a nice top and lipstick for dinner dates.

DISCO FEVER

Style Notes: It's clear from the silver hue and all-over diamanté detail that the Spotlight boots are no ordinary shoes, but it's not just their appearance that makes these babies beyond amazing. These limited-edition boots have been made in partnership with Smart Works Charity, and 100% of the retail price (minus the value added tax) goes towards helping women find work. Made with silver Italian suede and over 8000 Preciosa crystals, these boots certainly know how to shine. They're best for special occasions and definitely made for dancing.

TREAD CAREFULLY

Style Notes: This year has been all about the tread boots. Basically a Chelsea boot with a thick, almost platform tread sole, these chunky shoes are the silhouette of the season. I love the extra boost in height, and they look great with jeans and a statement coat.

BUCKLE UP

Style Notes: More choices on the Western front! Williams's Palmspring boots have a gem-encrusted buckle and patent-leather exterior, which make them a glamorous take on the cowboy boot. Jeans will make these look off-duty while the right dress can transform them into shoes suitable for dancing.

UP TO THE KNEES

Style Notes: I love everything about Dale's style–her home, her wardrobe, her boots–I'll take it all, thanks! Her effortless, pared back ensemble here is so in-line with my kind of winter wardrobe; easy, sophisticated staples that you don't need to overthink when wearing them. Unfortunately her exact boot here pictured is sold out, but the below Everglade is oh-so similar. Wear with jeans or a dress (and tights when the weather is this cold) and you're good to go.
