After what feels like an age waiting for Rihanna to release her album, Anti, the time is nigh. The artwork has been set. Teasers are creeping in. And although there have only been a handful of sightings of RiRi embodying her new Anti persona, some visual trends are already appearing.
Like all good popstars of the modern age, it's now a prerequisite to cement a different look for each phase of one’s musical career or album. Seven records in and she's yet to put a foot wrong, plus, with one of her trusted long-term stylists (Mel Ottenburg) on board—not to mention a few fashion projects on the go herself—this foray will be nothing short of spectacular, we're sure.

On Rihanna: Chrome Hearts slip dress and coat; Manolo Blahnik Chaos Heels (£480).
From the launch of her album artwork in New York, shrouded in black silk-satin and flourishing her moody look with a thick black choker, her hair in bantu knots and jet-black lipstick, through to a recent teaser snippet of her debut video encased in black latex, sprouting feathers and with a severe bob haircut topped by a gold crown, there’s a decisively dark atmosphere on the horizon. Even the tour poster intimidates as the trailblazer glares down at her audience with wild dreadlocks spinning around her head and a sharp-shoulder black suit. Could BadGal be getting the baddest she's ever been?
This new look has shades of the '90s goth about it, which lucky for Rih, the spring/summer 2016 runways are chock-full of the kind of anarchic black tailoring and slip dresses she’s going to need.
