I could write an entire novel on what they don't tell you about motherhood…here are some highlights according to me.
1. Everything will change (in a good way).
First of all, motherhood does change everything about your life, but what they don't tell you is how blissfully happy you are about that change. You’ve just come into the most indescribable and unconditional love of your life.
2. You can't script motherhood.
Every day is unpredictable, different, and you just become more in love with your child every single day. It's unfathomable and incomprehensible until you actually live it. Every decision you make is for your children, for their wellbeing, their happiness, and for their future.
3. You become more efficient.
I was always told that my priorities would change, which was true. What I didn’t realise is how much more efficient I would become with my time, simply because I had to. All of the things that used to be important, still are, but they matter in a completely different way. As a woman who’s been career-obsessed forever, I approach work with a different mindset now—it’s about trying to find the balance.
4. You're always happy.
Maybe the best part about motherhood that you can’t understand until you’re in it, is that you are eternally in a great mood. At least for me, that's how I’ve felt for the past four years. Motherhood does change everything, and I wouldn't change any part of it.
