Princess Eugenie's Wedding Reception Dress Was a Real Knockout

Apart from the fact that we're now a little bit in love with Mr Brooksbank (where's he been hiding all this time?) we've also been wowed over the past 48 hours by the direction Princess Eugenie has taken with her royal wedding looks. First, choosing a London Fashion Week brand known for their beautiful wares but not traditionally considered as a bridal go-to, her slightly left-field, and very cool, decision entirely paid off: Eugenie's wedding gown from Peter Pilotto will certainly find its place in the history books.

Next came her reception wedding dress. Where Meghan went all Bond Girl and slinky with a little more skin on show choosing a halter-neck maxi from Stella McCartney, Princess Eugenie opted for something we could actually imagine a superstar pop queen like Beyoncé wearing to an incredibly important red carpet moment. Using ultra-fine pleats, draping, ruching to create a figure-hugging, Hollywood bombshell-worthy gown, Eugenie's custom Zac Posen dress is going to have global appeal. The slightly exaggerated V-shaped waist and full skirt were nothing short of a true Disney princess moment, and will undoubtedly influence the silhouette and style of popular reception dresses in 2019.

"It was an incredible honor to create this dress for HRH Princess Eugenie on her wedding day. Her grace, elegance and strength perfectly embody everything I could hope for in a woman wearing our design," says Zac Posen over on his Instagram account

Choosing an American designer to craft her "second" wedding dress is yet another curveball choice from the newlywed. Mr Posen is one of the most sought-after names when it comes to red carpet and event dressing in the celebrity world, and his roster includes more starry names than one could imagine: Gwyneth Paltrow, Claire Danes, Uma Thurman, Katie Holmes, Miley Cyrus, Naomi Campbell, Lena Dunham… very few can resist the charms of his dramatic eveningwear. This dress could well catapult Eugenie into a slightly different A-list realm, making us feel rather excited for what's to come from this corner of the oh-so-stylish royal family…
