The Over-40 Women We Follow Religiously on Instagram

It goes without saying that the quest for great style doesn't end when you move into your 40s. There are plenty of women we regularly turn to for incredible fashion inspiration who are bringing some major mojo to their mid-life adventures and beyond. Mature fashion influencers, in general, tend to really know their style inside-out. They're not wearing something because it's now suddenly in; they're wearing it because it suits them and fits in with their own style and wardrobes. This means one all-important thing that we can learn from: The clothes never wear them.

All over Instagram, these over-40 fashion bloggers are making their mark and you'll find the women below in much of our content, but it's nice to spotlight this chic demographic with a dedicated story. Not only do they have the hippest closets going, but they've also taught us a thing or two about how to really put together a winning ensemble. From minimalism to bold hues, there's bound to be something that fits every taste—no matter your age. Keep scrolling to see the over-40 fashion bloggers and influencers who inspire our outfits daily.

Jamaican-born, Italy-based Tamu McPherson has long been a part of the street style set and is a well-loved part of the fashion industry. Not only is her personal style a veritable whirlwind of different ideas and looks on a daily basis but this is a woman with many strings to her bow—she is a blogger, photographer, editor, consultant and more. You can never predict what Tamu will wear or get up to next, and that's what's so magical about her.

Tamu always picks up the next-big-thing before everyone else—like this Rejina Pyo blue leather jacket and the Danse Lente bag.

Simpler outfits are always perfectly accessories with sophisticated yet fun add-ons.

She also has a spectacular coat wardrobe. What we wouldn't give to borrow a few…

As well as the incredible blog name established by Kat Farmer, this is also a place to find inspo for wardrobe staples with a directional spin. Think midi skirts in leopard prints, classic dresses in bright hues and a whole lot of playful layering techniques.

This skirt-and-jumper combination is near perfection.

Kat was one of the first to snap up Marks & Spencer's cult pussybow dress.

Kat makes this Topshop coat look so expensive by pairing it with neutral shades.

Grece Ghanem is the Canadian personal trainer-turned-fashion influencer we just can't get enough of. Her style code is inherently chic (and full of old Celine), but she's not afraid of more out-there trends like Bermuda shorts or neon tights.

Grece's elevated basics make up a core part of her hard-working wardrobe.

Rule of print clashing #1: Leopard always works as a good base for brighter, louder motifs.

Bold colours in simple shapes are a recognsiable Grece move.

Erica Davies is a former fashion editor, and her years of experience on a fashion desk can certainly be seen in her excellent choice of wares. Bright hues and OTT prints are her style signature, as is her immaculately applied red lipstick. Follow her for affordable style and serious interiors inspiration, too.

Erica knows wearing one colour top-to-toe is a fast-track to chic.

She has one of the best straw bag collections going.

Ladylike dresses and colourful coats make up most of her wardrobe.

If you searching for either interesting ways to wear colours together or for working-day looks that will pep up your office wardrobe, then Folake Kuye Huntoon of Style Pantry is your woman. She's recently released her own collection, FKSP, which is full of the kind of bright, tailored staples you'll come to know as her signature.

Tailored wide-leg trousers play a fundamental part in Folake's colour-block closet.

This pretty sundress is from her own collection—ideal for a holiday.

Waist definition is an essential part of all of Folake's look, and it's something that works for everyone.

We're always looking for ways to channel Scandi style, and one of our favourite outfit resources is Mette. Expect plenty of midi skirts, chunky jumpers, sleek tailoring and an excellent use of bold hues.

We need these contrast-stitch trousers in our lives.

Proof green and red shouldn't be reserved for Christmas.

We now seriously regret not snapping up this H&M midi skirt when we had the chance.

Renia Jaz set up her blog Ven's Wife Style to inspire women her age to break the fashion mould. A total chameleon, you never know which trend she'll don next, but one thing's for sure, it's guaranteed to boast some impressive layering skills.

Orange is a tricky colour to pull off, but Renia does so with ease.

As with any white outfit, we advise steering clear of the red wine with this one, too.

Nordic knits, oxblood leather and white knee-high boots—it shouldn't work but it so does.

We've admired Sophie Fontanel's style for some time now. With her flair for breathing a new lease of life into wardrobe basics, the writer is the epitome of French style in whatever she's wearing. Even when she's got a broken foot. Expect to see her in Old Céline, Hermès and H&M.

Sophie's leopard print clash is inspired.

Excuse us while we dig out our plain cardis.

Wide-leg trousers and chunky flat shoes will always look sleek when paired together.

When it comes to tailoring and chic separates, Tracey Lea Sayer is your woman. A fashion director, her Instagram page is packed with incredible looks from the high-street matched in quality only by her wit.

Suits and slides are our new favourite combination.

This coat is Primark. Primark. We told you she knows a high-street hero buy when she sees it.

Tracey was a loyal fan of the boiler suit before the look was even a vibe.

Melissa is a mum-of-four whose mirror selfies have earned her a string Instagram following who can't wait to wake up and see what she's wearing next. With an eye for soon-to-be-sold-out pieces, her account is one to check on regularly.

See how Melissa has picked out the burgundy accent hue on this H&M dress and matched it with her knee-high boots? Masterful.

She snapped up this Mango coat before most It girls knew about it.

Once again, Melissa knows a sell-out when she sees it—this Asos leopard slip.

It's not just over-40 bloggers who have impeccable style—check out the celebrities of the same age who continue to top our best dressed lists.
