The majority of shows no longer take place at the “tents” at Lincoln Center and have been migrating to galleries downtown for seasons. The opening of the large, new venue Spring Studios on Varick Street may be the beginning of a complete migration, with such tent-stalwarts as Michael Kors and Diane Von Furstenberg showing there instead.
Lupita Nyong’o at Prabal Gurung – we think this stunning newcomer is likely to take in a few shows this season, particularly with awards season underway and plenty of other outfits to find. Prabal Gurung’s collections cater to a sleek, feminine downtown woman, which we think fits Nyong’o perfectly.
Marc Jacobs’s set pre-show – it will inevitably be cool by itself, and people will likely get closer to the action before they take their nosebleed seats when the show starts.
Marc Jacobs: Now that the collection has his full attention (he is no longer also designing for Louis Vuitton), it's sure to be better than ever. If that's possible.
Delpozo: This Madrid-based label has been causing a stir for its couture-like quality and is a relative newcomer to New York Fashion Week since its re-launch by Creative Director Joseph Font in 2012. (pictured at left)
Kristen McMenamy: Her androgenous look and ‘90s supermodel status (landing covers of Vogue and contracts with Prada) makes her a great surprise walker. And she is 47!
