The (Really Easy) NYFW Dress Code You'll Want to Follow
No rain, snow, gale-force winds or shortage of taxicabs will stop the front-row crowds from descending upon the first round of A/W 16 shows in New York next week in major style. It’s time for new trends and for calling dibs on spring 2016’s big trends.
To get the skinny on the most important pieces the fashion pack are already buying in time for their grand unveiling from hibernation, we drilled our retail sources over in NYC. Shopbop market editor Kate Johanson let us in on the eight-piece plan that will set these early birds ahead of the pack—from all-important outerwear (we may be keen, but we aren’t foolish enough to freeze) through to the two cost-effective accessories everyone can experiment with right away.
Scroll down to shop the NYC set’s hottest tickets before the rest of the world does!
1. The Fun Fur Coat
“A street style favorite that’s almost become routine for the cold-weather months. Street style stars will opt for a vibrant twist on a classic fur or a retro-inspired shearling coat.” — Kate Johanson, Shopbop market editor
2. A Pair of Statement Jeans
“Never choosing just plain old jeans, for FROW-ers it’s all about updating your trusty denim with statement details. The wider the leg or the louder the embellishment, the better the look.” — Kate Johanson, Shopbop market editor
3. The Talking-Point Pin
“All about standing out any way possible with personalizing your look.” — Kate Johanson, Shopbop market editor
4. A Romantic Blouse
“These poet blouses are a little romantic, a little rocker and 100% of the moment.” — Kate Johanson, Shopbop market editor
5. A Simple Choker
“Editors are headed back to the ’90s as indicated by this throwback accessory, which manages to be edgy and sweet all at the same time.” — Kate Johanson, Shopbop market editor
6. The Power Pouch
“Bags are staying small, but they still pack a punch!” — Kate Johanson, Shopbop market editor
7. The Winter Floral Dress
“Keeping it feminine and sweet, these floral dresses are cool without being distracting in the front row.” — Kate Johanson, Shopbop market editor
8. A Pair of Chunky Platforms
“Whether you’re a fan of combat boots or girlish Mary Janes, platform styles are a nod to the ’90s and will be seen on every editor trekking from show to show.” — Kate Johanson, Shopbop market editor
