These Are the Most Popular Sandal Styles of 2019
Seeing something all over Instagram often feels like a strong indication of a trend, but it's always good to check the facts too. When we predicted the sandals trends of 2019 back in the winter months, we had a feeling we'd be seeing a lot of sporty sandals (thanks, mostly, to our columnist Monikh), strappy heels, flip-flops and even a rise in Birkenstocks. Summer 2019 felt like it was going to be a summer of simplicity for our footwear, be it the barely-there beauties from Topshop or the return of an old classic or two.
But as the warmer months roll out, we've been curious to find out what people actually responded to and which trends are taking off. Instagram can feel like an echo chamber at times, and we wanted to confirm which sandals are actually popular so far this year. So we asked our friends at Lyst.com and the LIKEtoKNOW.it shopping app to confirm our suspicions.
According to Lyst's data, "wedged," "gladiator" and "rubber sandals" are the most commonly searched-for sandal terms. Meanwhile, over the past year, traffic for "strappy sandals" on LIKEtoKNOW.it was up 132% and "sliders" were up 210%. But which exact styles are people looking for the most? Keep scrolling to see and shop the most popular sandals of the year.
Birkenstock Arizona Eva
The waterproof, more affordable version of the classic style, these go with anything from a gingham dress to jeans and a tee.
Saint Laurent Cassandra Heel
A bold '80s-inspired logo heel making the list makes so much sense, considering both '80s and logos were majorly anticipated trends for the year.
Teva Original Universal Sandal
It's not just our entire office that owns a pair of Teva sandals—you all seem to have a pair as well. They're comfy and go with everything; what's not to love?

Tory Burch Kira Sandal
It's not just trending shoes that made the list. A chic low-heeled, sensible option that works for any outfit—be it a destination wedding guest look or a post-work cocktail on a terrace, did too.
Nomadic State of Mind Sandals
It's no surprise to see an eco-friendly option rise in popularity in the year that sustainability has taken centre stage in the fashion industry.
Jimmy Choo Emily Sandal
The Row Egon Leather Sandals
Of course, a pair of The Row sandals would appear on this list considering their bare leather sandals went viral last summer.
