As anyone who is familiar with her wardrobe can attest to, Millie Mackintosh is the queen of polished style. Be it a printed midi dress, two-piece suit or simply jeans and a jumper, she somehow manages to look put together at all times (undoubtedly helped along by her glossy locks and dreamy skin). With this in mind, you would think the ex–Made in Chelsea star would be someone who exclusively shops designer brands…

However, as we found out this week, Millie is actually a huge fan of the great British high street. Thanks to Millie becoming an ambassador for Klarna, we got a chance to chat to the influencer about everything from the joys of Mango jewellery and & Other Stories’ trusty basics to her top tips for making high-street buys look expensive. Scroll down to see what she said, and then shop her picks from her favourite high-street brands.

What’s the key to finding something expensive-looking on the high street?

It’s about good design, be it a lovely print or making sure the fit is just right. If I really love something but the fit isn’t right, I sometimes have it slightly altered, which I find makes it feel and look more expensive.

Which three stores do you always turn to, and why?

I shop at ASOS using Klarna if I want to try a new trend without breaking the bank. Mango is great for standout accessories and tailoring (favourites include over-the-top diamanté earrings and a velvet bag embroidered with gold stars—people always ask me where it’s from). & Other Stories, meanwhile, is my go-to for basics, including denim, T-shirts and knitwear.

Is there anything, in particular, you’d rather save up and spend money on rather than buying cheaply?

For me, having a good-quality coat is essential. It should last forever if looked after properly. Try looking for one at the end-of-season sales, and then bring it out the following winter.
