New York Fashion Week as we know it may never be the same. Back in December, it was announced that the semi-annual production would be forced to leave its home at Lincoln Center over lease disputes, and now WWD reports that Mercedes-Benz, the official sponsor for the past five years, has dropped out. The news couldn’t come at a worse time, as Fashion Week officials are still busy scrambling to secure a new location before the spring shows in February.
To explain Mercedes-Benz's dramatic exit, a spokeswoman for the company stated, “Our relationship with fashion is not ending…We routinely review those events for return on investment and general engagement.”
