I Like Margot Robbie's Puddle Jeans, But I Love Her Pick-Up-at-Anthropologie Bag

Margot Robbie is the kind of celebrity whose presence we enjoy in bursts. Rather than treating us to a daily outing, Robbie's excursions come in clusters, typically bookending major events in her calendar. Luckily for us—and our inspiration boards—Robbie attended the Gotham Independent Film Awards in New York City last night and subsequently treated us to several chic off-duty looks in between. Before her evening appearance, Robbie stepped out in a look that garnered even more attention within the Who What Wear UK office than her red carpet outfit did. Ahead of the curve, the actress was spotted styling one of the major denim trends that we've identified for 2024: floor-length puddle jeans. Concealing her black shoes, Robbie's mid-wash puddle jeans added a casual flair to her wool blazer, allowing her look to toe the line of smart-casual for an elevated take on weekday styling.

For a brisk New York afternoon, Robbie wore several light layers that kept her outfit looking both fresh and cosy. Beginning with a white T-shirt, the actress layered over a white cotton button-down shirt, which she styled underneath a longline wool blazer. Topping it off, Robbie finished her outfit with a Bottega Veneta shoulder bag and narrow tortoiseshell sunglasses. Following its release, Bottega's Hop woven bag (from £1970) quickly rose to cult status, garnering love from fashion editors and celebrities alike. Several seasons on and many of our favourite high-street brands have perfected their iterations, offering the in-demand silhouette at a range of far more affordable price points. And whilst I'm taken by many of them, I keep coming back to a particularly compelling version from Anthropologie.

For its supple, sinuous silhouette, this shoulder bag sits on the wish lists of many a style insider and has commanded a cult following of its own. Whilst I always advocate buying the original in any design that you can afford, I do appreciate that your budget may not stretch to Bottega (mine certainly doesn't). This is where Anthropologie's perfect alternative comes in.

If you're as inspired as I am by Robbie's flawless weekday outfit, read on to shop her look as well as more of my favourite puddle jeans.
