As a shopping-obsessed editor, my interest in luxury fashion, consumer buying habits, sellout rates for new items, and what the most in-demand drops are could be likened to how a book nerd would feel about scouring the internet and bookstores for various editions of books by the greatest authors.
I love to know what other people are buying and, conversely, what they want to buy but possibly can't get their hands on. I know the feeling because I've been there. In fact, I still regret not snagging a certain pair of rectangular Chanel sunglasses when I came across them in a boutique, only to realize later that I'd never be able to track them down again.
So in an effort to indulge and entertain both myself and our readers, I recently decided to reach out to Rachel Ingram, fashion director at luxury personal shopping platform Threads. Seeing as Threads focuses on connecting its (largely millennial) shoppers with the most popular and hardest-to-get fashion items in any given season through easy chat and messaging platforms (yes, you can even DM them on Instagram), I figured there would be no better source to share what fashion's biggest spenders are yearning for right now.
What I got was basically a dream wish list that, at the very least, is an interesting read even if buying isn't in your budget right now. To see which nine items Ingram said are constantly getting requested, just keep scrolling.
"Following on from the success of the new Bottega Veneta pouches last season (one of our highest requested products), the Cassette bag is set to be the hottest bag of the summer, with our shoppers already securing them in every color for clients. They are super lightweight and the crossbody strap also makes them incredibly practical. Our fashion team is championing the padded version in a gorgeous caramel leather."—Rachel Ingram, fashion director at Threads
"We have daily requests for Amina Muaddi, and the obsession with her footwear doesn't show signs of slowing. Our clients' favorite is the Begum style, and our Threads' personal shoppers are on a mission to track these down—especially the impossible-to-get-hold-of Glass Begums. There's something that feels timeless about Amina Muaddi's shoes, but the heel gives them an edge." —Ingram
"We had early access to a few a while ago and managed to get them out to some of our biggest clients, but finally the Dior Mini Book tote is landing in stores and we can get early deliveries out to the numerous clients who have placed orders with us. Most of our clients already have the large size, so this is a perfect addition to their wardrobes. We expect to see these all over Instagram in Mykonos beach shots this summer."—Ingram
"These have been sold out in the knee-high version all winter (we have managed to hustle a number of pairs for clients!) but are now starting to arrive in an ankle-boot version, which we are snapping up as soon as we see them. There is nothing more flattering than chunky boots that cut low on the ankle, so if you haven't got a pair yet, run don't walk (and get in touch). We predict they will still be the boots of the moment next winter."—Ingram
"Seen first on Threads, Eera has been all over Instagram. The cool-girl jewelers are best friends with Amina Muaddi and the Attico designers, Gilda Ambrosio and Giorgia Tordini. Eera's combination of diamonds and neon hardware feels like the contemporary take on fine jewelry. Designed to be stacked up the ear, we have been sending their incredible earrings out to clients around the world."—Ingram
"It's a classic but with a fashion edge that Threads had exclusive access to when it first launched. Orders through our Threads' personal shoppers for this bag haven't shown any signs of slowing down. Our clients' favorite is the monogram, but we have also sold a huge number of red for Chinese New Year." —Ingram
"So many requests for these in so many colors! The crossbody versions have been the most popular, with the beige, red and black being our biggest sellers this season. I predict this spring we'll see sales in the ruched, hot-pink version climb, as our personal shoppers are already reserving them for clients."—Ingram
"If you are a luggage junkie like me, you will have seen this heart-stopping collaboration from the Dior S/S 20 menswear show. Threads were able to exclusively preorder, so we managed to secure a number of pieces for clients before they were in any stores, and now we are working through the waiting list. Our clients are traveling constantly, so this is the perfect update to their luggage."—Ingram
"If you own an Instagram account, then you know the boots. They're the ultimate influencer boots of the season. This means that everyone wants in, and, of course, they were sold out from the minute they delivered. Threads of personal shoppers spent much of the last few months tracking down pairs from across the world for their clients so they can brave the winter months in style. We predict these will still be a hit paired with bare legs and oversize blazers come spring."—Ingram
