Ever since Lupita Nyong'o first came to our attention (and way before she even won her Oscar), her fashion credentials have been much applauded. Thanks to a fabulous stylist named Micaela Erlanger (who just so happens to be one of our columnists), Nyong'o has scored hit after red carpet hit. Back in 2014, whether it was the baby blue custom Prada she wore to collect her Academy Award or the red Ralph Lauren dress (complete with cape) that she donned for the Golden Globes, Nyong'o was a sure bet to blow everyone away. But if you thought that was just beginner's luck, you'd be wrong. Fast-forward to 2016 and she's still killing it—see her rocking Hugo Boss at this year's Tony Awards for starters.
However, she's not just stylish at big events, she's also super chic on her down time. Case in point: The star is currently on holiday, and we couldn't be more envious of her wardrobe. Other than making us want to head to warmer climes, she's also single-handedly bringing the kaftan back into cool territory. Now, we know what you're thinking. You probably of the opinion that kaftans are reserved for those who just want to cover up and not be seen. But that's simply not the case. Recent rumblings (okay, posts by our favourite fashion bloggers) have also proved that the kaftan is making a comeback and with good reason; it's comfortable, taps into the boho thing, it works as a dress and as a beach coverup, plus it means you can go back for seconds and no one will know.
