7 Joyful Trends London's Coolest People Are Wearing

We are a little biased, but London Fashion Week really does bring out the most inspiring street style sightings. Being a city already full to the brim with subcultures and countercultures that have been embraced by, and helped to shape, the fashion landscape in this country, it's the kind of place where wearing something outside of the norm is celebrated rather than judged. Play it safe, and you may as well go play in another postcode, pal.

With an elongated pause due to COVID, the arrival of LFW in all its rad-outfit glory was a joyful sight to behold. Those in attendance kindly brought out the new-season big guns no matter what the weather held—a factor that is always less reliable than the week prior in sunny NYC but actually provides a prompt for creativity, IMHO. And although the schedule, pavements and event spaces weren't entirely returned to their former super-buzzy, busy forms, after all these months in the style wilderness of at-home loungewear, it was clear to see that those who did appear were keen to dress up to the nines and make up for lost time.

So we had some pretty wild ensembles to enjoy, with editors, stylists, buyers, influencers and more grabbing on to autumn's vibrant memo, choosing citrus oranges, Kermit greens, high-vis yellows, punchy reds and Barbie pinks to wear on repeat. London and tartan are intrinsically linked via the punk scene, so it was no great surprise to see this runway trend being wholeheartedly adopted by the street style set. Those were the two top-line looks, but more microtrends and ideas from London Fashion Week's street style crew are all documented below, along with some key shopping picks for you to jump into the looks for autumn.
