5 Boot Trends I'm Seeing All Over London Right Now

As I type, I can tell you that in London right now it's -1ºC. I'm sure it's colder throughout other parts of the UK, but this kind of plunging temperature usually freezes the city up—everything stops. We'd be nowhere without Uniqlo thermals, M&S tights, Pret's toasted sandwiches and a great pair of boots (or five), and whilst I'm sure you'd love to scroll through a menu of tasty, hot food, I'm going to offer you a gallery of London-adored boots instead.

These sturdy footwear friends to take us from season to season, looking sharp and feeling comfortable. There's a great deal of walking most London girls have to do a daily basis, not to mention some rather packed-out day-to-night scheduling, which means their boots need to be ready for anything. Oh, and that's without scrimping on being stylish. So which boots are currently trending in our chilly capital? I've had my eyes as open as possible during the first week of January and can report the below…

Style Notes: We're struggling to think of a combination that doesn't work with cowboy boots… Irina wears her Vetements ones with many different looks, and they work a charm every time.

Style Notes: You could also opt for a more adventurous style, like Freddie's Kate Spade New York knee-highs.

2. SLOUCHY KNEE-HIGHS

Style Notes: Talking of knee boots, it's really the kind of pull-on, slouch-down style that's taking over London. Girls here are opting for colours other than black, like Camille pictured in a pair of beige Maryam Nassir Zadehs.

Style Notes: Shini's slate-grey slouchy boots are from Marella, and we think we're in love.

Style Notes: For more of an uptown look, you'll find the girls of London wearing heeled boots with contrasting two-tone toe caps. Hannah's are the ultimate: Chanel.

Style Notes: When in doubt and in London, wear chunky, flat-soled black boots and you'll fit right in. From Dr. Martens to less obvious brands (Jessie's are from Maje), there are many styles out there to choose from.

5. TAN AND BROWN

Style Notes: Perhaps stolen from the French, brown suede boots are heavily trending in London—and it doesn't matter if they get a bit scuffed or rain-damaged; that adds to their vintage effect.

Style Notes: They're a particularly good addition to a dark outfit—Natasha has used her Topshop boots to liven up black skinny jeans.
