From Sienna Miller to Rosie HW, These Are the Best Lob Hairstyles to Copy

When it comes to classic hairstyles, they don't come more timeless than the lob. With less drama (and less upkeep) than an Anna Wintour–inspired bob but a little more edge than long locks, the lob is the perfect in-between hairstyle that never goes out of style. Bonus: It suits every face shape, too, so there's no risk of remorse after your visit to the hairdresser's.

But what exactly is a lob? Well, it's exactly what it sounds like: a long bob. It's a one-length cut that generally sits at a mid-length, shoulder height—although you can get away with your strands falling just a smidge above or below that, too. Experiment with centre and side partings to switch up how your lob looks daily, but a lob hairstyle also pairs well with a fringe—whether that's a full, one-length fringe or wispier French-girl bangs.

And if you're considering embracing the lob for autumn/winter, you're in luck. There are so many examples of celebrities stepping out with the chicest mid-length hairstyles that I thought it would be rude not to put all of that great lob inspiration in one place.

Rosie's soft beach waves are so pretty, and her longer-length lob is a great place to start if you're new to mid-length hair.

Zawe Ashton

The centre-parting and tuck behind the ears lends Zawe's glossy lob major '90s vibes.

Scarlett Johansson

Lobs might be simple but they don't have to be boring. Make like Scarlett and add texture and movement with tousled waves and plenty of volumising spray.

Channel EmRata's power lob by blow-drying the ends of your hair under with a round brush. Seriously glam.

It might only take 30 seconds, but a half-up, half-down style like Kristen's looks just as good for an evening out as it does for work.

Bella Hadid

Bella is all about the hair transformations, but I think this chocolate-brown lob is one of her best hair looks ever.

Try a deep side-parting like Emilia Clarke's to add a retro feel to wavy strands.

Kendall and Kylie Jenner

Yes, there was a time when both Jenners modelled a lob hairstyle. Double trouble.

Chloe Grace Moretz

This combination of red lipstick, a pink power suit and a slicked-back lob has to be one of Chloe's biggest style moments. I'm totally in love.

Another retro-inspired side swoop from Mila Kunis.

Let's be real—every day is a good hair day for Sienna, but this softly tousled lob is one of my favourite looks.

Olivia Munn

@OLIVIAMUNN

Lobs have a good rep for being low-maintenance (which they are), but they can still be glam enough for the red carpet, as Olivia Munn proves here.

Victoria Beckham

VB has been stepping out with a lob for the best part of the last decade, and I can see why—it's classic, fuss-free, and always looks good.

Jourdan's curly lob is totally epic and proves that it isn't just a style that works for straight strands.

Allison Williams

Add personality to your lob by experimenting with partings, how you style the ends of your hair and colour—Allison's blonde is so lovely here.

Maya Rudolph

Maya Rudolph might be one of the most hilarious women in Hollywood, but there's nothing funny about her lob—it's seriously chic.

Vanessa Hudgens

@CHADWOODHAIR

Straight, simple and in autumn's trending shade of peppercorn black, Vanessa Hudgens ticks all the boxes with her mid-length hairstyle.

Jennifer Hudson

I love how J.Hud has kept her hair simple to let that dramatic dress shine.

Alexa Chung

Alexa flits between a bob and a lob, but always keeps it centre-parted and with a natural wave.
