We'll not patronise you and ask you if you've ever seen Leonardo DiCaprio in Romeo + Juliet. That's probably a stupid question, right? If you're anything like us, then you have every scene etched into your brains. Especially those moments when Leo, as Romeo, is being all emo wearing that floral shirt.
While that film came out over 20 years ago (yikes), it's still inspiring our wardrobes. Case in point: the new Louis Vuitton menswear show. During men's fashion week in Paris, the French fashion house sent men down the catwalk in floral short-sleeved Hawaiian shirt. Similarly, Justin O'Shea, formerly of MyTheresa.com and Brioni, has just debuted his own line—SSS World Corp—which heavily leans on bold printed short-sleeved shirts.
True, all of that is very menswear-heavy, but it's a trend that's currently popular for womenswear too, and we often find ourselves following suit when boys favour a particular item in fashion. Finally, Dolce & Gabbana and high-street favourite Mango have also featured these Leo-inspired shirts in the latest collections. Which can only mean only thing: This, dear reader, is a trend.
