I have mixed emotions about the end of summer. While I will welcome some cooler temps here in Southern California, I’m definitely going to miss the warm nights and long days spent at the beach. And, I’ll miss my summer wardrobe! However, I do have a few foolproof outfit formulas for the end of summer that are perfect for warm days and cool nights. I’ve even thrown in some great transitional pieces that will send you (fashionably) into the cooler months ahead. So, without further ado, here are my five foolproof outfit formulas for the end of summer.
There’s nothing I love more than a look that’s chic yet effortless… not to mention comfortable. However, comfort doesn’t always mean compromising style. During the end of summer when the weather is still warm, I love pairing a plain white tee with a high-waisted miniskirt and a pretty pair of flats. Just tuck this perfect white shirt into a palm-printed miniskirt, slip on a pair of neutral flats like these gorgeous scalloped ones by Chloé, and you’ve got yourself an outfit!
I can't even tell you how many pairs of white skinny jeans I have in my closet, and when the end of summer rolls around, you will almost always find me in them. One of my go-to outfits for this time of year is a great pair of skinnies (like this distressed pair by Frame Denim), a classic chambray button-down, a comfortable pair of flats (right now I'm loving espadrilles), and an easy-to-throw-on backpack. It’s a look that’s classic, comfortable, and completely foolproof.

It’s no secret that I’m still pretty in love with the off-the-shoulder trend. There’s something subtly sexy about this printed off-the-shoulder dress, I just can’t get enough of it. And as the end of summer comes closer, I’m looking forward to incorporating transitional pieces like these Rag & Bone ankle booties back into my wardrobe. To pull the look together, all you need is this darling textured clutch from Clare V.
A trend I find myself coming back to this summer is the ever-coveted T-shirt dress. This little Michael Kors number is easy to slip into on a hot day; you can layer it under a denim jacket when temperatures dip in the evening. During the summer, I pretty much live in flip-flops, so I decided kicked it up a notch with these studded Rebecca Minkoff gladiator sandals. Just throw on the dress, tie the jean jacket around your waist, slip into the sandals, and you’re ready for the day.

When I’m planning an outfit, I like to pair pieces that will be casual enough to run errands in, yet stylish enough to meet up with the girls for after-work drinks. So while it hasn’t cooled down enough to hit the streets in jeans, these Madewell high-rise denim shorts do the trick. This bucket bag is small enough to carry your essentials, and paired with a pretty pastel off-the-shoulder top, you’ve got the perfect end-of-summer ensemble.
