When Lady Gaga caught wind of the Christie's auction of a special reissue of Alexander McQueen's iconic Armadillo boots from his S/S 2010 runway show, she must have flipped out. After all, not only was the pop star close friends with the late designer, but she also unforgettably wore the shoes in her 2010 music video for her smash hit "Bad Romance."
And she put her money where her heart was. According to Harper's Bazaar, Gaga herself purchased the three reissued styles of the Armadillo boots for a whopping total of $295,000. Christie's will not release the individual price paid for each pair, but let's just say the amount Gaga laid down far exceeded expectations—altogether, the three pairs were supposed to fetch between $30,000 and $45,000.
The best part? All the money is going to charity. UNICEF helped organise the auction to raise money to rebuild Nepal, which was recently hit by a devastating earthquake that took the lives of more than 8000 people.
