Kim Kardashian made a big announcement over Instagram this morning when she shared this very steamy image of herself and husband Kanye West kissing for Balmain's spring/summer 2015 menswear campaign of which they are the stars. The photo, shot by Mario Sorrenti and creative directed by Pascal Dangin, shows Kardashian fiercely gripping West's face, pulling him towards her for a passionate lip lock.
Balmain also shared the photo (three times, to be exact, in progressively zoomed-in levels on Kardashian and West's faces), to very mixed reactions amongst the brand's one million followers. Kardashian and West are known fans of the French label, regularly seen wearing coordinating head-to-toe Balmain ensembles and maintaining a close friendship with creative director Olivier Rousteing, who has sent North West her own Balmain baby jackets. Kardashian's It-model sister, Kendall Jenner, famously walked the Balmain runway at Paris Fashion Week last fall.
Of the decision to cast them in the "Army of Lovers" campaign, Rousteing said, "For this Menswear campaign, I wanted to capture a moment of love. Kim and Kanye are style icons and friends. It is an honour to have them in this Balmain campaign. Together, they represent love, beauty and diversity - they are the new modernity. This is more than a campaign, it expresses something beyond clothes - it is a celebration of love and friendship. This is a new statement for Balmain."
