Kate Middleton's Back-to-School Midi Is Autumn Dress Goals

The tears, the tantrums, the ironing of new uniform, the manic race to get out the door… The first day of school is always a big deal for parents and children alike, and the royals are no exception. Today was the first day of school for Princess Charlotte, who joined her older brother at Thomas’s Battersea proudly wearing her navy-blue school uniform (sob). Royal fans have, of course, been avidly waiting for the photos to be released, and they do not disappoint.

All eyes were, of course, on Kate, who looked resplendent in all her glossy-haired glory (is it just us, or has her hair got lighter?). Continuing her 2019 style winning streak, the Duchess of Cambridge was snapped in a past-season Michael Kors floral midi dress, which fell to the knee and was cinched with a black belt. She kept accessories paired-back and opted for her go-to classic suede courts and a pair of gold hoops.

The outfit might not be as trend-led as that dreamy Alessandra Rich polka-dot dress, but it is a perfect example of Kate's ability to know what suits her (aka midi lengths and waist-cinching fits). We love that she has the confidence to own her own personal style (a grown-up school uniform, you might say). This is undoubtedly the beginnings of Kate's burgeoning school-run style, and we can't wait to see more.
