If you're a pretty-dress kind of girl, we bet Kate Foley has your fantasy wardrobe—after all, the New York–based stylist has the best dress collection in the fashion industry. But she couldn't tell you how many dresses she owns exactly. "It's hard to keep count, as I'm always buying, reselling and gifting them to friends," she tells us.
We caught up with Foley to discover what the secret is to assembling a dress collection just like hers, and she reveals that the key to a perfect dress is that it's comfortable. "To look good, you have to feel really good—the perfect dress has to be totally comfortable as well as flattering," she says.
Her go-to designers are Marni, Saint Laurent, Miu Miu and Rejina Pyo, and her all-time favourite dress is a floral silk dress from Saint Laurent designed by Hedi Slimane. "It's shape and print feel vintage—in fact the print is actually from the Yves Saint Laurent archive—but unlike many beautiful vintage dresses, the fit is absolutely perfect," she tells us.
As for how she's styling dresses this season, she explains: "I always wear dresses with sneakers and creepers—Vans, Converse and Adieu are my favourites. I love to be comfortable all the time (especially now that I'm pregnant!), so mixing a really special dress with sneakers is my way to combine comfort with glamour."
