Jennifer Lawrence Has Just Tapped Into the Most Niche New Trend

The off-the-shoulder top was one of the key trends of 2016: In June this year, Lyst saw 3000 searches an hour for "Bardot-style blouses." You might think that such huge exposure would tip this trend into the no-go zone, but it would appear we're not ready to cover up our shoulders just yet. While promoting Passengers in China, Jennifer Lawrence showed how the off-the-shoulder silhouette is being updated for 2017, and it's a lot chicer than its predecessor.

Jennifer has used her Passengers promo tour to experiment with elegant but playful suiting. After wearing the perfect Dolce & Gabbana suit-and-corset combo last week, she wore an off-the-shoulder tuxedo jacket and cropped trousers from Antonio Berardi's S/S 17 collection at a photocall this weekend. Her exact jacket may not be available yet, but Monse, ASOS, and Faith Connexion do similar shoulder-baring tuxedos—and we've heard from some inside intel that this niche style is selling very well.

The off-the-shoulder tux is a feminine and alluring spin on classic men's tailoring and is a world away from the Bohemian off-the-shoulder blouses which dominated the high street this summer. And, really, talk about flattering or what?
