The Top 3 Colours for Fall, According to J.Crew's Head Stylist

It might be blazing hot in your neck of the woods at the moment, but fall is right around the corner. Many of our favourite retailers are already rolling out their fall lines, not least of which is J.Crew—and if there's any singular person we trust more than others to tell us what to wear this fall, it's the brand's head stylist, Gayle Spannaus.

Spannaus took The New York Observer on a really interesting tour of the J.Crew colour library in New York—which houses more than 3600 swatches and patterns!—and the publisher asked her what she thinks are next season's hottest colours. She responded in no uncertain terms.

"A canary yellow is super versatile and complementary to every skin tone," Spannaus says.

J.Crew Sheath Dress ($188)

"Cobalt works off of everything, and it is in everyone’s wardrobe. It is definitely the most versatile of the brights," she says.

J.Crew Brushed Mohair Boyfriend Sweatshirt ($70)

"There’s nothing more beautiful than camel with a heather grey or a royal purple," Spannaus advises.

Givenchy Camel Suede Leather Pump ($357)
