6 Ways I'm Wearing My Summer Clothes in Autumn

John Keats might have described autumn as a season of mists and mellow fruitfulness, but if the autumn/winter collections are anything to go by, fashion clearly didn't get the memo. Alongside a plethora of hot-off-the-press trends, it appears that some of summer's most extroverted styles have stuck around for the colder months—not that we're complaining. We love a bit of newness here at Who What Wear, but we can't deny there's a certain satisfaction that comes with being able to recycle and update our favourite looks for a new season.

This summer, we saw animal print take off in a big way, so unsurprisingly it's making a return for autumn. However, instead of floaty leopard-printed skirts and button-front dresses, we're seeing snakeskin and zebra print rendered in '70s-inspired silhouettes. Chunky trainers and ankle-grazing dresses have also made the cut; add a longline blazer à la Alexis Foreman for the colder months. We've also fallen in love with the summer combination of a slip skirt paired with a chunky jumper, as seen on Emili Sindlev. Of course, you'll need to wear some of your outfits with Western-style boots for instant A/W 18 chicness. Scroll down to shop our full edit.

Animal Print

Style Notes: Lucy Williams somehow makes snakeskin trousers look effortless with a powder-blue '70s-style jacket.

Style Notes: We've spotted this Arket zebra-printed dress quite a few times and predict it won't stay in stock long. This is the perfect animal-print look for minimalists.

Style Notes: We sat up when we saw this Uterqüe outfit. Maria Bernad just looks so good with the matching shirt and trousers.

Shell Jewellery

Style Notes: A silver shell necklace livens up a simple T-shirt and sleeveless knit.

Style Notes: Who What Wear's Hannah Almassi could so wear this dress-and-shell-necklace pairing for autumn.

Shades of Brown

Style Notes: A brown blazer and chunky Adidas trainers make for a chic, sporty ensemble.

Style Notes: Courtney Trop channels Wild Wild West style with this head-to-toe brown outfit.

Style Notes: A brown checked suit is a super-easy and super-stylish way to wear the brown trend.

SLIP SKIRTS

Style Notes: This is the outfit we've all been obsessing over. You'd think a silky slip skirt, Western boots and a nerdy knit wouldn't go together, but they just work.

Style Notes: An oversized blazer is another easy way to transition your slip skirt into autumn.

Style Notes: Pale pink and cool grey look so great together. We also love the double-knitwear styling hack.

Chunky Trainers

Style Notes: A pair of chunky trainers makes for the perfect addition to a smart suit.

Style Notes: Jeanette Madsen updates a classic all-black ensemble with a pair of Adidas trainers.

Style Notes: Chunky trainers needn't be tricky to style. Sometimes all they need is a pair of jeans and cosy knit to work their magic.

Midi and Maxi Skirts

Style Notes: Alexis Foreman shows us how to layer-up a floaty summer maxi.

Style Notes: A pair of Dr. Martens can look surprisingly chic with a minimalistic shirtdress.

Style Notes: Checks are set to be big for autumn. Courtney Trop pairs her blue Zayan the Label dress with awesome snakeskin Chloé shoes.
