When we first compiled our spring/summer 2019 trend report, there was one trend I was certain our readers wouldn't go anywhere near: neon. But it turns out this isn't a trend that is staying within the Kardashian-Jenner family, as one of the questions we have been asked the most this summer is, "How can I wear neon?" If you're Kylie Jenner, you'd wear as much as possible. Her family has worn matching acid green swimsuits and she's worn a traffic cone orange dress, shoes and bag all at the same time. However, it is possible to have a more subtle approach to neon, with a tiny flash of fluoro so you don't look like a human glow stick.
Most of us haven't gone near neon since freshers' week, however, there are ways you can wear acids and not look like you're lost on the way to a bar crawl. Unless you are specifically going for a rave look, it's all about adding a subtle accent to your outfit and not making this the dominant colour. The grown-up way to wear neon is to lean towards the acid-hued floral midi dresses, pink fluoro blouses and glow-in-the-dark swimwear, which can be easily mixed in with more minimal pieces. If you want a more maximalist approach however, this colour palette also works with other loud summer 2019 trends, such as tie-dye and leopard print.
