The Shoes We've Been Neglecting Need to Make a Comeback for 2018

Brogues have been off the fashion radar for quite some time. Eclipsed by other flats (sneakers, we're looking at you), they've barely registered in 2017. However, we reckon that needs to change—we should embrace the masculine shoe style for 2018. There are plenty of reasons, but the biggest is that they're a wardrobe staple. Not only that, but you can wear them with pretty much any sort of outfit. Whether that's a workwear ensemble or just something altogether more casual, it's time to make brogues you shoe of choice.

Not convinced? Keep scrolling for five outfit combos on how to wear this footwear this coming year.

Style Notes: The easiest and most common way to do brogues is to go for more menswear-inspired styles. To make it feel more modern, wear mismatched trousers and jacket, and button up a white shirt to the top.

Style Notes: Show off a bit of ankle by wearing cropped and embellished jeans. Even better, wear an ankle-skimming coat, as it's all the better for showing off one of our most underrated features.

Style Notes: Two-tone brogues are still super-stylish and give off a vintage vibe. Keep it modern with a pair of high-rise khakis and a white jacket. Kind of safari but for the city.

Style Notes: Platform brogues are what every fashion editor loves for one good reason: They give you height. If you're on the shorter side (or just love feeling taller), there's good news, as plenty of designers have created pairs as of late.

#5: Leather trousers + military jacket

Style Notes: One of the A-listers who regularly wears brogues is Olivia Palermo. She often pairs them with skinny jeans or leather trousers with a military-style jacket.
