1. Know Your Uniform

Everyone should have their own personal "uniform," a go-to formula that works best for you and your body type. This simple formula is something you can throw on in an instant and know you will always look polished and pulled together. Place several of your uniform pieces at the front of your closet so they are the first thing you see in the morning.

A simple turtleneck is a simple but genius layering piece.

Swap classic trousers for a velvet pair for a fresh twist on classic workwear.

2. Start With the Shoes

I often let shoes guide my look. They can direct your style in a specific direction that you might not have thought of.  For example, if you opt for loafers, give in to a smart/sophisticated look for the day, and let your outfit evolve around your shoe choice.

Statement pumps are the start to a great outfit.

Mix it up, and swap loafers for a pair of pretty satin slippers instead.

3. Add Just One Statement Accessory

Feel free to add in a statement accessory, but just one too many statement pieces will be confusing to the eye. Also remember, If you are trying to achieve a clean, sleek look, avoid mixing too many prints and patterns.

Abstract statement earrings are a fun way to put a fresh spin on a go-to look.

For a polished twist, finish off your usual look with a colourful scarf tied around the neck.

4. Finish With a Structured Handbag

Don't overlook your handbag choice, as it's the punctuation mark to your look.  A structured, ladylike bag instantly dresses up your look.

This structured top-handle bag feels feminine without being overtly girly.

Try a new spin on the bucket bag with this cool, structured style.
