Breaking News: Gigi Hadid Is Creating a Collection With Tommy Hilfiger

Just when we thought fashion town was looking oh-so-quiet in the lead-up to Christmas, along comes the news that Gigi Hadid—2015's main girl—is set to launch a collection for autumn next year with the American powerhouse Tommy Hilfiger.

The label has been a supporter of Gigi (and sister Bella) for some time, casting them both for the reggae runway of S/S 16, but this takes their working relationship to an entirely new level, naming her a 'global ambassador'. It will be the first fashion collaboration Gigi, 20, has entered into, and knowing the impact that her clothing choices make—especially her downtime casual get-ups—this is bound to mean big business.

“Global ambassadorships are a bit overused and not too exciting,” he said in a telephone interview to The New York Times. “We’re really doing something different. We’re creating a line called Gigi by Tommy Hilfiger, using her style, her sense, her social media presence as the top supermodel in the world today.”

The only clue thus far was an Instagram snap via Gigi's account revealing what looks like the collar of a black satin bomber jacket. But you should be prepared for a full collection. “I ended up staying an extra five hours the first day,” Gigi said when talking about her time in the design studio. “I think they were surprised I was that into it.”

"I never thought I would be asked to design a capsule collection, so it still feels like a dream that Tommy approached me to collaborate," said Gigi. "His company is one that I genuinely love and have been a fan of for my entire life, and Tommy is the easiest, most fun person to work with. I have always looked up to his brand, campaigns and design style. I think our collection celebrates the iconic Tommy lifestyle and mixes a bit of everything: there are styles that are really hippie-chic, styles that are sporty streetwear, and styles that are tomboy but girly; everyone's is going to love a different part of it."

Obviously we are! Are you looking forward to it? Let us know in the comments below and shop the best of Tommy Hilfiger's latest collection now.
