This Best-Selling Dress Has Just Been Restocked—5 Ways I Plan on Wearing It

For the longest time, I felt I was on the outside looking in on the slip-dress trend. I'm busty and prefer to wear a bra at all times, but when you're a 32G, even strapless bras can peek out over the top of your dresses. So I resigned myself to the fact that, as much as I loved them, slip dresses were a trend I'd have to sit out on. Then along came Ghost's Palm Dress

Acting assistant editor Maxine Eggenberger wears the Ghost Palm dress in ivory with a cream coat, tan handbag and suede knee-high boots.

Since breaking out on the fashion scene, Ghost has become one of my all-time-favourite dress brands. I own its iconic Jenna Dress in three colourways (blue, black and pink, in case you're wondering), which I managed to snap up in various sales. I've also recently dabbled in the Luella, which is just as excellent. However, out of all Ghost dresses, the Palm has perhaps piqued my excitement the most. As I've alluded, it's a slip dress, but one with a subtle V-point scoop neckline and straps thick enough to wear over even my comfiest bra. If I could have designed my perfect slip dress, it would look exactly like this.

After its Palm dress sold out last summer, Ghost has reissued the style in three versatile colourways—black, ivory and rose. When the dress first launched, literally two weeks ago, stock levels in the black and ivory were quickly depleted on Ghost’s website (though I have found some in stock via John Lewis & Partners). Having learned from my mistakes, I made sure to get my hands on it this time around—and it has not disappointed. As handy and versatile as I thought it would be, I just know I’m going to live in this dress throughout spring and summer.

I opted for the ivory shade, which blends in seamlessly with my largely neutral wardrobe palette. However, I’m keen to wear more colour this year, so I am considering investing in the pretty Rosette iteration. Not one to leave anything to chance, I decided to put the Ghost Palm dress to the visual test by creating outfit builds around it. Takingpieces similar to items I already own, I wanted to ensure I would adequate wear out of it. In just a matter of minutes, I whipped up five stylish looks to see me through every spring occasion.

Turns out there is absolutely a place for this blush-pink beauty in my wardrobe. So from after-dark drinks to springtime soirées, scroll on to see five ways I intend on wearing Ghost's Palm Dress (aka the most versatile dress of the year). Then, at the end, I've included all of the shades for you to choose from. Happy browsing!

FIVE WAYS WITH GHOST'S PALM DRESS IN ROSETTE

1. DATE NIGHT

Style Notes: A leather jacket always has the power to give an outfit after-dark appeal. Be it a (rare) date night with my husband or catching up with my friends over drinks, I know this will be an ensemble I can rely on throughout the year.

Shop the look:

In my opinion, this is the perfect leather jacket.

There’s no outfit gold hoops can’t improve.

This dress hangs so beautifully on.

From the heel-height to the comfort, I can’t fault these mules.

2. SHOPPING TRIP

Style Notes: Considering that shopping goes hand in hand with what I do for a living, it makes sense that I've become quite the pro at it. Instead of wearing jeans for such an endeavour, I always opt for a dress, as it's easier to remove for stints in the changing room. Cue Ghost's Palm Dress. I’d also wear this for low-key brunches and general errand running on the weekend.

Shop the look:

Want to look cool? Add a baseball cap.

A Breton stripe with some weight to it is ideal for spring.

The scoop neck and wider straps cover all of my bra.

3. WEDDING CEREMONY

Style Notes: I have three weddings to attend this year and I never worry about wearing the same outfit, even if the guest lists overlap, as long as it's a good one. This outfit here? It's a good one.

Shop the look:

Wear this crystal necklace with everything, from simple tees to, well, slip dresses.

I’m an hourglass figure, and this dress hugs to my shape perfectly.

Roop bags aren’t just beautiful—they’re sustainable, too.

4. ON THE CLOCK

Style Notes: While I generally like to keep my work and play wardrobes separate, there are some pieces that are too tempting to not wear in both. I'll be layering my Ghost dress with a breezy linen shirt for essential meetings. Until temperatures truly heat up, I'll layer this knit over top.

Shop the look:

A headband always makes me feel pulled together.

Personally, I prefer crew necks to v-necks.

I own this shirt and get so much wear out of it.

I’m tempted to see what this dress looks like belted.

Loafers are a foolproof shoe option when you want to look smart.

5. SPRINGTIME SOIRÉES

Style Notes: Spring is my favourite time of year, and I relish the challenge of dressing for the crisp weather. Chic and versatile layers are the key to creating stylish spring outfits, and I know this Ghost dress is going to play an integral role in them. I particular enjoy how it looks with a shirt dress over top.

Shop the look:

This also looks excellent worn unbuttoned to the waist over trousers.

Slightly longer than midi hemlines, this is perfect for layering with other dresses over top.

Chunky rings give any outfit a “fashion” vibe.

From the almond toe to the block heel, I think these boots are terrific.
