Instagram has been blamed for fostering a throwaway approach to fashion, with many guilty of featuring an item in their outfit posts only once; never to be seen again. For those of us who buy clothes with the intention of re-wearing them as often as possible, this constant stream of newness can be a little uninspiring and, well, boring.
One study showed that on average 73% of clothes in the UK go unworn, meaning we could all do with a reminder to shop within our own wardrobes. There are a number of influencers who challenge the idea that everything we wear needs to be new, using their platforms to give ideas for how to rewear and fashion new outfits out of the clothes they've already posted.
Last month, I noticed that London-based influencer Jessie Bush had worn a Ghost Jenna printed midi dress at least 10 times in her pictures. This is a dress I own and always feel my most confident in, so it inspired me to wear it for a week too. It isn't a new dress (it's been available at Ghost for over two years), but it's a great one that isn't likely to date.
Floral dresses are a staple for British women, and many will have a calf-length floral dress like this one, which can be styled in similar ways. See how I'd wear this midi for weddings, meetings and the weekend. Then, keep scrolling for all the outfits I've saved on Instagram that feature this dress.
