When we first became acquainted with 26-year-old British musician FKA Twigs, we found her music absolutely entrancing and her visuals—at times Björk-inspired, at times a bit strange, but always beautiful—totally mesmerising. But now, with her latest release "Two Weeks," she's officially cemented her place as the most important rising fashion star to watch.
We're not the only ones who think so: legendary fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin recently shot her for the cover of Dazed magazine, for which she was styled by Karen Clarkson in everything from Chanel to Céline to archival Olivier Theyskens. She has a very certain look about her: big doe eyes, a heart-shaped face, and a certain undeniable edge that also bleeds into her music.
The music video for her newest hip-hop-infused track was directed by Nabil, who's also crafted stunning films for every artist from Kanye West to Nicki Minaj to John Legend. The song is the first single of her forthcoming album LP1 due out August 12; the video that accompanies it is simple on the surface but thick with multiple layers when you look a little closer. (Watch out for FKA Twigs' dance skills—she was trained in contemporary dance before she started her music career!)
